An exceptional and rare sea battle painted by an artist on a 30" x 22" papier mache tray. The foreground is completely dominated by the canon fire & enveloping smoke around the 2 tall ships engaged broadside. One is flying the French flag and the other appears to be a Nordic country flag. Other masts peer over the mist. The painting itself was done by an accomplished marine artist, though unsigned. Really good wave action and ships rendering. A fine set of 6 vintage Luneville K&G 10" dinner plates in the 18th century Strasbourg rose and Strasbourg tulip patterns. Wonderful soft Luneville faience colors. The rich pink is achieved with the use of gold doped into the enamel color fired at high temperature. Molded fluted form with 3-d ribbing. Old K&G Luneville back stamp with crown & shield. Early 20th century when they had multi course dinner entrees. Condition is good, save for some age crackle normal to old faience.

An original hand colored Currier & Ives lithograph "Moonlight in Fairyland". A rare scene for Currier & Ives, showing a winged fairy waving her magic wand in a lily pond and under a full moon. Very idyllic.
Image 9" by 13", in a double matt and an old frame, 17" by 21". Slightest hint of stain, good color.
Nice unusual Currier & Ives.

A cheerful set of 6 bright yellow Shelley 7.5" English bone china plates. All with an early Shelley mark. If you are interested in the transition of Foley-Shelley back stamps this is the mark which was occasionally used by Foley around 1910-1912 when they exported to the U.S. as Shelley. (Wileman Foley, which pre-dated Shelley, exported to the U.S. under the trade name Shelley while they used the Wileman-Foley or Foley backstamp in England. Confusing!)
