A luxury book by the Japanese textiles expert Tomoyuki Yamanobe published 1972 by Hinoki in Japan. This book is mainly in Japanese, but each costome has both a Japanese and English description. A double dragon and phoenix polychrome (wucai) bowl with a further dragon medallion inside. There are underglazed double rings around the rim, the foot and the bottom reign mark. This bowl has the mark of Qianlong, and it has the unmistakable patina and biscuit characteristics of genuine old imperial ware. A nice pair of 19th century Chinese famille rose wine cups. Each cup bears auspicious symbols, a pair of fish for prosperity and other objects from the scholar's study. These fish are simply drawn and fun. These cups are actually quite popular in the study where friends would drink and compete in poetry couplets for example. 2.5" high and 2.25" diameter.
