A porcelain snuff bottle with exceptionally fine detail in the 2 landscape scenes. This type of hairline thin decoration is known as grisaille and literally painted with a brush of single hair. A basic concept in Chinese landscape painting is that it encapsulate a world. These small paintings certainly succeeded. A light touch of some red on one side, very sophisticated color usage.
