Masters of Japanese Calligraphy by Shimizu and Rosenfield is a classic for the 8th-19th century masters; published by the Japan House Gallery and the Asia Society Galleries in 1984 on the occasion of an Exhibition at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Kansas and the Seattle Museum in 1985. ¾ÞÐÍÅ®½«»¨Æ¿19ÊÀ¼Í huge imperial Guangxu era sacrificial or cobalt blue ground vase with elaborate foo lion ears. Well armed warriors were drawn in great detail on the main reserve panels. One panel appears to be led by a woman general. The smaller panels on the necks depict scholars in peaceful mountain clearing. Gold decorations on the blue ground. Excellent detail and fine porcelain. These are about 100-145 years old from the late imperial Qing Dynasty, era of Emperor Guangxu. ...click for details
