A fine mission oak desk with 2 banks of bookshelves by L & JG Stickley with original label. This particular label was used for only a short time between 1910-12. Wonderful warm color and patina. The bookshelf model is one of the most desirable. Nice round pegs showing, typical of L & JG.
42" x 28 1/4" slightly overhanging top, 30" high. Full length big drawer 20" wide. Book shelf 20.5" high by 9" deep. Amazingly this desk is pretty much in original condition as found in the estate. It has not been abused. The wood in the drawer had so little oxidation it seems almost new! Normal to antique desks there are signs of usage with light scratches at a back corner and an old ink ring inside the drawer. The desk is a true rarity in this good original condition. |
