A striking Meiji era (1868-1912) Japanese vase with a deep cobalt enamel blue ground. Two very lively dragons are coiled around each other on each side of the vase. These dragons are in relief on the white biscuit. Outstanding quality and sharpness of detail is such that I'd almost say Hirado. In any case it is excellent Arita ware. No marks anywhere quite normal for this type of ware.
10.5"" high and 5.6"" diameter widest. Very good condition with no hairlines or repairs. A wonderful gift for the dragon aficionado. |
