A fun carved English walnut arm chair with a North Wind face and nice fanciful needlepoint upholstery. There is also a coat-of-arms centered at the stretcher. Graceful curved arms with nice carved details suggestive of flight. And of course paw feet all around. Early victorian.
41" high, 25" wide and 25.5" deep. The chair is in very good condition, and there are old refurnishing to strengthen it by attaching the iron bars across the legs (see picture). This was not the result of breakage but rather to avoid a potential break. A marvelous North Wind figural carved period chair. Highly decorative. |
