An unusual Ming dynasty (1368-1644)cizhou vase in double gourd shape. A simple plum blossom spray on the bottom and a short poem above. The poem celebrates the fragrant landscape forever and the seasonal renewal of the plants & flowers. A touch of nostalgia very typical of Ming literati. 明磁州窑葫芦.
12.5" tall and 7.5" diameter at large bulb. Very good condition. Nice creamy slip glaze with a hint of crackle. This is old with one or two excavation marks showing. |
