A Ming blue and white jar in surprisingly well preserved condition. it is used for oil or other utilitarian needs. It has a spout, 4 hanging "loops", and an intact flat cover with the character for "Yuan". (cover may be later match) There is a boy flying a kite on the side facing you if you are right handed. The reverse is a vigorous bamboo leaf motif. The entire imagery is drawn with strong and bold strokes. 17th century. Just super in such great condition.
6" high and 6 1/2" diameter. Condition is quite good for the vessel. Uneven glaze faults from the kiln typical of this type of ware. Structurally sound and no repairs. Very nice motif. |
