A stately covered compote (comport) with a wonderful finial in the Holly pattern. Faceted stem issues from a stepped pedestal. It is pictured as #1 on plate 116 of Ruth Webb Lee's Handbook of Early American Pattern Glass. From old estate on Cape Cod. 9" high to finial and 8 3/4" diameter. Very good condition with one small kiln flaw on the rim and some straw marks. No cracks. Rubbing marks on the footrim from use as it should be.
