This is a Chinese export Canton warming plate of exceptional quality in the fine painting as well as quality of porcelain. About 11 inches across. Lovely saphire blue with lots of detail.
The hot water filling spout faces up and the pouring spout down. Both have a hole through the center perhaps for running a wire. The sides are decorated in a floral scroll. There are no marks; a touch of orange peel. It is an early Canton dating to the first part of the 1800s. Exceptional condition with no cracks or repairs. |
