A fun Japanese mixed metal "shakudo" bronze vase with a gorgeous long tail rooster. He is found in northern Japan and has a silver tail which can really be as long as 9 feet. His feet and beak are in gold. Silver plum blossoms on the branches. The red crown and wattles are in copper. Signature says "carved by Kho-Shyu". (Chalk rubbed into the signature to take pic.) From the Meiji era 1868-1912.
6" high. Has a couple of very small dimples not readily noticeable. This is a fun mixed metal vase. Japanese craftsmen are unrivaled in mixing different metals and in patination. A fine signed 4 metal vase with excellent detail. |
