This is a traditional Chinese brush painting of a beautiful deer with sharp antlers. He looks so proud and grand. The silk is old and is clearly at least 19th century. Signature and seal is of an 18th century artist Tsou I-Kwei (1682-1772). He was famous for painting animals, flowers and birds.
The painting is in a simple wooden frame. Image area is about 40 by 20 inches and in good condition. The bright light you see in the close up is just that, reflection from light, not stain. It is an estate painting, and I guarantee it is antique and not a recent reproduction. |
