An interesting English antique air twist wine stem with a double knopf on the stem and 2 buttons beneath the bowl. Thorn and roses engraved on the bowl, code symbols for the 18th century Jacobeans. Broken pontil on the base. Circa 1750.
About 6.6" high; 2.7" top bowl diameter and 2.9" base diameter. Fine condition with no damage. Note: The house of Stuart was kicked out by the house of Hannover in 1688. Stuart supporters, called Jacobeans (Jacobites) went underground for a century. Their symbols were the rose, thorn and oak leaf. Many Jacobites were sent to the American colonies.
