道光官窑青花祭碗. A fine Imperial mark and of the period Daoguang blue and white cut corner ritual bowl, lingzhi design all around and in the interior. Rings on footrim, just below inner top rim and around the inside lingzhi. This type of bowl is often used for ritual offerings of fruit and sweets. Probably used at a private altar. The 19th century Chinese Emperor Daoguang was a well known buddhist devotee. There were plenty of reasons for prayer and offerings in his beleaguered reign (1821-1850).
4.3" diameter and 2.3" high. Fine condition with no chips hairlines or repairs. Beautiful glaze, nice ring. Translucent body. Tiny touch of grey in the underglazed blue, typical of the period. A fine Daoguang example. The bowl is illustrated in a Taipei Palace Museum catalogue. Provenance: Sotheby's HK Nov 1988.
