A fine antique snuff bottle in tapered cylindrical form with underglazed copper red figure and blue rings. High quality porcelain and glaze. Underglazed blue ring or circle at the rolled rim and just above the foot. Also an ivory top with a long bone spoon. Early 19th century Qing era.
3.5" high to finial top. Porcelain in very good condition with slight roughness at footrim but no chips. A nice unusual antique bottle. Note 1: The figure is wearing rain gear made of reed and going down a mountain side. Most likely a scene involving a woodcutter from a historical story or peking opera. Note 2: One of identical form (floral design) in underglazed copper red and blue is shown as #234 of Kleiner, 1977, "Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Collection of Mary and George Bloch". An underglaze copper red snuff bottle of identical form can be found on p196, #236 in the "Fine Chinese Snuff Bottle Collection"; Joint Publishing HK, 1992; ISBN962-04-1028-9.
