A fine Qing scroll painting on silk of a Tang beauty by listed artist Ma GengXian; with a poem alluding to the flowers in her hair from the first blossoms of spring; signature and seal of the artist. Ma was from 蘇州 Suzhou (Soochow), a city famous for its artists, beautiful women and canals.
清吴门马根仙仕女画. 61" by 17.5" sight; mount in poor condition and scroll ends missing. Creases in the silk. Can be professionally remounted and worth doing for this artist. Also can be framed as another option. |
