1700s Famille Rose Chinese Export Armorial Dish

This is a very rare armorial plate most likely celebrating a marriage between 2 European noble families. Nice pink rose palette with gold trim. Of course the center armorials of the 2 houses together with a handshake. Sorry I can't identify the crests. The five point crown points to the rank of the nobility. Those little roses scattered around, so typical of this period. Very nice form with the undulating rim. No marks.

About 1.8" high x 9" rim diameter. No chips hairlines or repairs. Very slight wear on the gilt and enamel is in fine condition. Very good condition. This is a rare period Chinese export armorial, quite rare.

The early Chinese export porcelain can often be made from very high quality biscuit similar to those used in fine domestic porcelain. These are often found on famille rose, Fitzhugh and early Nanking, the wares favored for the special order trade (sometimes called private trade). This is a good example, much finer than the typical 19th century rose medallion or canton.

Nanking Cargo Chinese Export Bowl -Ming. A large bowl from the Christie's 1986 auction of the Nanking (Hatcher) Cargo recovered from the 1752 shipwreck of the Dutch India Company ship in the South China Sea. The bowl interior has underglaze blue floral decorations typical of the late Ming (1368-1644)to Early Ching (1644-1911) period. (And the pattern area is pretty large. Chinese Famille Rose 18c Tea Caddy Fun Finial - ... A fine Chinese famille rose tea caddy from the 1700s. The hat shaped lid has a very nice fruit form finial as the old ones often do. The vessel itself has a shoulder conforming well with the shape of the lid. This is the form copied by Meissen in the 18th century for their tea caddies. This is one of those fantastic forms we all love in antique Chinese export ware... a Nanking gravy boat with looped handles and wavy rim plus a conforming liner. The handles and the rim give the appearance of flying. This early 18th century export blue and white is made of fine clay and has that prized saphire blue. The painting details are very fine. No marks anywhere....
